THE MAPLES is a band that originated in Laredo, TX and established in 2015.
Our sound is influenced by artists such as Lou Reed, Chris Bell, Joy Division, Nirvana and many others.
We have toured around Texas, four years of our existence and recorded many demo cassette tapes till 2017 when we recorded the "THE MAPLES" EP at a studio in our hometown. After extensive touring in 2018, we recorded our Debut LP "Nocturnal Play" in Austin, TX at Stinson Studios / The Recording Conservatory of Austin, TX.
We have played in various clubs/bars/venues in Austin, San Antonio, San Marcos, etc.
We have also appeared on various local newspapers for our achievements such as releasing the first vinyl record in Laredo, TX in 49 years, appearing on Cassette Store Day and our latest single which premiered on KUTX 98.9 Austin, TX
Recently we have released the full album " Nocturnal Play" on October 25th 2019 and now touring for it today.
Robert Crown was born and raised in Laredo, Tx. He started his musical journey in middle school band and formed his first rock band in high school influenced by Spanish and English artists. He has played several shows all over town since then with different bands and groups. Graduating from Texas A&M International University, Robert earned a Bachelor's degree in Music. After keeping up a friendship with Tom for years, they decided to form a two-man group and make some original tunes in the year 2019. They started recording in a home studio and releasing songs on Spotify, Apple Music, Youtube, etc... They have been influenced by Indie, Rock, Alternative, Pop, Hip-Hop and Latin artists. Robert is constantly working on composing and producing music in his home studio with the help of his friend Tom. Robert has the idea of becoming a multi-genre artist for the new and current generations of listeners. My goal is for my music to be heard around the world and spread a positive message through it. Thank you!"
Born and raised in Laredo, Nicholas Whipps relocated to Austin in the hopes of bringing the south to the central.
I lead a collective of artists called NOT SO SOUR. I focus on music so I go around as a songwriter, producer, engineer, and strive to perform.

• Covers of Metal, Hardcore, Dubstep, Hardstyle, etc... Just like a cover band, except the "band" is replaced with DJ equipment, so I basically mix samples and play the electric guitar simultaneously.
