If you've found this website then we have two things in common. Love of music and love for our city of Laredo, TX.
Welcome to my little space. My name is Sergio. I was raised in Laredo and Nuevo Laredo, TAMPS. I am one of the many people (I'm sure) who have no complaints about my small-town life. I've also seen how our town is capable of amazing things when it came to music and our small but talent-rich music scene.
I witnessed with great enthusiasm how the downtown bar scene began to flourish starting from 2018 and continuing to early 2020. Iturbide Street (or IT street as the cool people call it) was alive with people of all ages and music tastes bustling from bar to bar enjoying a night out enjoying live and club music.
Talented artists and bands coming from all over the country to our little town made it feel like we were right at that edge of stepping into a new era for music in Laredo, TX.
Then, COVID-19 happened.
The virus has spread across the globe decimating lives and forcing economies down to a dirty wrestling match with no victor in sight. Human lives lost are without a doubt the greatest loss we face. But the everyday lives of those fighting to overcome this are also on the balance. Hope is never lost. But we must adapt in the meantime.
The one thing we can never lose hope for is art. With me being a part-time musician and life long music lover (and not a blogger...as you can already tell) I feel immense sympathy for all the professional, semi-professional and hobbyist live musicians out there and here in my hometown. I cannot imagine the emotional and economic stress that has fallen on everyone.
So I took this longtime goal of creating a unifying space for my people of Laredo, TX and decided there was no time to waste and make it a reality. This platform is to shine a light on those who have been pushed into the shadows for the time being until we get back to whatever our new level of normalcy will be and in turn come out stronger than ever as a music scene in Laredo.
